Amazing food, great service from this hole in the wall at a busy downtown street! Fish was fresh, the clam chowder was delicious and the side dishes were well prepared. I recommend!

This is the spot for top tier fish and chips in SJ. The breading is crispy and light, a better alternative than the chewy and spongy batter. The fish type is a preference, they serve haddock, which is more sweet and tastier. Sometimes I prefer cod for more flakey texture. The cashier was super welcoming and gives local home vibes. Another pleasant surprise was the metal cutlery and table setup, which I found both welcoming and unexpected for a fast food joint.

Came here on Monday for lunch and loved it. The customer service here was amazing and just made the experience here so much better. This place is located in SJ downtown so it was a little hard to find parking. Not to mention the area is pretty ghetto which is probably why we were the only ones inside. However, if you are looking to satisfy all of your seafood cravings this is the spot. We ordered a couple of items off of their large menu. My favorite being the fish and chips were done so well and matched perfectly with their tartar sauce. The fish was crispy and cooked to perfection in my opinion. Their lobster roll was also really big compared to other places and was very juicy and flavorful. The dish also comes with two sides which was so amazing. I chose the garlic fries which were great and the coleslaw which I thought was okay. The last dish we tried were the clams which were not my favorite because it was a little too salty but my boyfriend liked them. Everything came out super fast and was very well priced! Overall, I would definitely come back here. They also have a happy hour which starts around 3 that I will definitely check out for their other items.

Food was great, fries were Krispy and salad was fresh. I enjoy the cut of the Salmon; more of a salmon steak than traditional cut you get everywhere else. Service is hospitable and very attentive Ambiance is relaxed

I stayed downtown for the first time in 15 years for work. It's still as sad as it's always been. I found The City Fish on Yelp. Walking from the hotel here had me thinking "Don't bring the family." Because of the location the whole experience was rough. This said, service was fast and helpful and the food was good. I ordered takeout. Fish, shrimp, and fries. Everything tasted fresh, no fishy smells. If you're up for a basket of fried food, I'd recommend it.

I had the urge for fish and chips. I bookmarked City Fish for awhile so it was on my bucket list to try when I was in the downtown area. I took the opportunity to do that. The restaurant is located near Pastelaria Adega which serves very good desserts. Inside it's small but you can get sense the friendly vibe of the place when you walk in and they have a large screen tv playing sports. Being that the place serves fried food, you don't smell that strong aroma of cooking oil. Their menu had a large variety of items but I didn't have room to order more. I ordered their fish and chips in which I heard great reviews on Yelp. I didn't get home until an hour and the fish and chips weren't too soft. I ate them warm. The fish didn't come off too oily and it was good to eat along with the soft fries. I enjoyed the food and look forward to trying out their raw and steam seafood next time. The parking they have are street and you can parking around 2 to 3 blocks. The parking meters take coins and card. I found parking 2 blocks away and paid for 20 minutes which was enough time to get there, order and was done.

Good hole in the wall in San Jose!! Food is overall really good, everything comes out hot and freshly made. I personally got the 4 Prawns and Fish combo platter with garlic fries. Garlic fries have plenty of fresh garlic, and the prawns and fish are battered and cooked well. My table also got the clam chowder, fish and chips, fish tacos, and cheesy garlic bread. The cheese bread is definitely a stand out! Yummy, cheesy, garlicky -- nothing to dislike about it. Inside is small so be wary of coming with parties of 5 or more. Service was quick and friendly! Also located next to the SJ famous Pastelaria.

PORTION SIZES ARE GREAT and parking kinda hard in downtown. This is my go to spot whenever I'm craving fish and chips. It's a solid portion for the price. Cod is super nice and fires aware crispy outside and soft inside. Tar Tar sauce is solid too. Service was exceptional and really friendly! It gives like sea vibes idk how to explain

Pretty decent grub here! Love how delicately crispy the fried calamari is though the calamari meat itself is a little on the rubbery side. Similar deal with the fried fish in the fish and chips basket; terrific batter for the fish but the fish is a tad dry. Pretty standard chips. Very friendly service. Overall recommend if you have a hankering for fish and chips (and the like) and happen to be in the area.

The service was good and the staff was friendly. The place was clean and the wait time for the food wasn't too long. I wasn't a fan of the fries because they were barely salted and were on the softer side. The clam chowder and the fish & chips were solid. The fish & chips had a good texture and a good crisp. I definitely was full after getting the clam chowder fish combo. It was the perfect amount of food.
